Common Questions

1What are my payment options?
To make things go as smoothly as possible, we’re set-up for credit cards or debit cards for most major carriers. Cleanings are prepaid only and done so before we clean your home. Unfortunately, we do not accept checks, money orders, or cash.
2What areas do you serve?
Roughly from Renton to Everett and just west of Newcastle. If you are outside our service area and would still like our cleaning service, please call or email us.
3How long will it take to clean my home?
It depends on how big your home is and what addons you've purchased for your cleaning. For example, a standard "Mother's Best" deep cleaning on a home that's up to 1000 square feet, or roughly a 2 bedroom / 1 bathroom home, will take one maid roughly 2.5 to 3 hours. For any home that's larger than 1800 square feet, or roughly a 4 bedroom / 3 bathroom home, we'll typically send two maids to ensure things are done thoroughly and on time. This estimate does not include first-time cleanings which will take longer and this will vary depending on size/condition. Add-ons will increase this time estimate.
4What is Mother Maids’ 100% Satisfaction Guarantee?
We try our very best on each cleaning we make. If you aren’t completely satisfied with your cleaning, we will re-clean the areas that weren’t satisfactory at no extra cost.
5Are there any services that aren’t offered?
We're glad you asked! Cleaning is what we do best, but sometimes we can’t do everything. Anything that would pose a serious health risk or requires special training/certification unfortunately can’t be accommodated. Examples include but are not limited to: No wet wiping bulbs, exterior cleaning (i.e. windows, roof, gutters, house siding,etc), carpet cleaning other than vacuuming, hardwood floor stripping/waxing/polishing or any surface restoration, fragile/valuables/antiques, hazardous materials cleanup, restoration(fire, smoke,water damage), hoarder living situations, moving furniture or appliances, chimney/fireplace, air ducts, cleaning from heights requiring step ladder or stools, and some types of commercial property cleaning (contact us for details). 6Who’s responsible for the cleaning supplies?
Our maids bring their own cleaning supplies and equipment.
7 What if I accidentally chose the wrong square footage or have last minute changes to addons?
No Problemo! We know mistakes happen or you might want to change some things to your cleaning. If there were any changes to your original order, let us know and we’ll make the appropriate adjustments after cleaning.
8Can I tip my maid?
We love what our maids do for us and pay them well. You're more than welcome to add a little extra to show your appreciation.
9What’s included in the cleaning without addons?

11What is considered to be a normal cleaning condition?
What one person may consider dirty, another might consider clean. It's difficult to say without actually seeing the home. Time estimates are based on a rough estimate on the 'average' amount of dirtiness in a home. First-time cleanings may have an additional charge, if it overruns our time estimate. Our cleaning professionals have seen it all and they know exactly how long a certain home should take. They will assess the home's condition and if it does look like it will take longer, they will let you know before starting - extra charge will apply in this case.
12What are the additional fees I see before booking?
These are processing or transaction fees associated with credit card payments. You can think of the fee as something like how a company charges for shipping & handling for a product.

Preparing For Your Cleaning

1Is there anything I need to do to prepare for the cleaning?
Please keep floors and other surfaces clear of items so that we may clean quicker. Make sure that you've already arranged for entry into your home at the time of your cleaning appointment. If not stated, we will go to the cleaning appointment under the assumption that you will be home. Also, other than the notes you can provide after you’ve booked, you’re welcome to point out areas you need special attention when your cleaning is about to begin
2What should I do with the stuff (paperwork, accessories, books, etc) I have on the counters/furniture whenever the cleaning crew comes clean?
We do ask that areas meant to be cleaned be cleared of your personal things. It helps us clean more efficiently.
3What if I have pets? Do I have to secure them during cleaning?
Mother's Maids loves pets of all kinds! We do recommend, however, that they be secured in their crate or cage both for their safety and the safety of our maids.

Booking & Scheduling

1What’s the earliest I can schedule my cleaning?
Please allow us at least 24 hours to be able to properly prepare for your scheduled cleaning.
2What is the cancellation policy?
We'd like to know when you cancel so we can fit others in for cleanings. Please allow for at least 24 hours before cancelling. There is a fee of $75 if cancellations occur less than 24 hours before your scheduled cleaning.
3What is the no show policy?
It makes us sad if we aren't able to come in to clean your home. If our maids show up and there is either no one home or arrangements weren’t made previously for entry without the homeowner, a $75 fee will be assessed. However, if our maids haven’t shown up for their scheduled time slot, please give us a call as soon as possible.
4When Should I Expect My Cleaners To Arrive?
Please give our maids 60 minutes leeway to account for traffic or any setbacks they may have.
5What if I want only a few areas cleaned?
Say for example you have a 4 bedroom 3 bathroom home where you only want 4 bedrooms and 1 bathroom cleaned. If it falls below the range, in this example, of 2001-2500 sq.ft., then choose the appropriate sq.ft. range and mention this in the special instructions so we'll know in advance.
6How does recurring cleanings work?
Pick one of the options and you'll receive a discount on the very first cleaning to show appreciation for your additional business. However, if recurring cleaning is chosen and then cancelled after the first cleaning, the discount will be reversed. A warning may be issued and any other attempts that take unfair advantage of our services, of the same or any other type, will result in a permanent discontinuation of services.

1Do I have to be there when the maids are cleaning?
You can do what you’re most comfortable with. If you go for the option to not be home, please contact us so we can make arrangements.
2Is my information safe with you?
We take your security seriously. Your personal information is never shared or sold and we use 256-bit business grade SSL encryption for sensitive transactions. Please take a look over our privacy policy if you would like to know more.
3Do you perform background checks on your maids?
We use an agency that specializes in these services to ensure that all maids have a squeaky clean record.
